Project Day

Yesterday I had my project day with the scouts. Got a lot accomplished: 40 bleachers and dugout benches replaced, sandbox built, and 50 tons of gravel spread. Thanks to all the family, scouts, and friends that came out to help! I really appreciate it! Most of all, thanks be to God! He has been working throughout this entire project! I give all the credit to Him! Philippians 4:13 says that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." I believe it because this project couldn't have been done without His help!

Project Update

Sorry for the delay on the update! School has started and kept me thoroughly busy the past few weeks. Plus, the extra time that I've had has been spent on the Eagle Project. The pea gravel has been delivered (thanks to Roger's Group for donating all 50 tons of it) but has not been spread yet.  The borders (with exception to one side that allowed the pea gravel to be dumped) are up, and the landscaping cloth is down. Now, steps are being taken to secure the materials needed for the bleachers.  Two of the four old bleachers have been disassembled and painted a nice cranberry red. Also, I bought all my supplies needed for my sandbox and have already cut the lumber for my project day.  Everything is seeming to fall together! Almost done fundraising and looking to have my project day involving the scouts on September 15! Thanks be to the Lord for getting me this far! Pictures to be posted soon!

Swingset is up!

The new swingset is now installed! Spent the day digging holes, breaking up rock, leveling dirt, hauling and mixing concrete, and doing much more work. We finally got it done though! Thanks to my parents, grandparents, aunts, best friend Davis and his family, and to the good Lord up above for helping me get this phase of the project complete. Couldn't have asked for better weather. The next step is to get the plastic borders that I ordered and get the pea gravel. Pictures of today's work coming soon!

New Swingset

Ordered the new swingset today! Because it has to ship from a warehouse somewhere, it will take several weeks to ship to Nashville. The Church approved the area where I want to place the swingset. Now I need to decide on border and base materials and get the concrete to install the swings when they come in. Praying that God helps me get the things I need to build this church what it needs!

Demolition Days

The past few days, we have been clearing out the old playground equipment in preparation for the new. This involved pulling the swing sets up and sledge hammering the concrete below. We had to haul all the old wood off and clear the area for the new sandbox and swing sets. The church is going to let me know by the end of the week where their preference for the exact location of the swing sets to be placed. Spent today marking off potential areas where we might install the playground. Still haven't decided on an exact model for the swing set, but I am going to make that decision in the next week or so.  Here are some pictures of the work I have been doing.

Before Pictures

Here are some pictures of the area before I start my deconstruction of the old equipment.  As you can see, the bleachers are in bad repair and some haven't been replaced in years.  They are broken, warped, and even rotten.  The old swingsets have not been used in years due to their current condition.  They present a hazard to anyone trying to have some fun on them.  The sandbox is old and nearly rotten, providing no place for a child to play. 

Project Approved!

Eagle Scout Project is approved and ready to go! I'm planning on installing some new swingsets and new bleachers for a park down at Neely's Bend Baptist Church.  Fundraising for this project is underway!  If you would like to help out in any way, please contact me, because I need all the assistance possible and will be very thankful for what help I can get!
